A Man Called Ove By Fredrik Backman
An old grump with a big heart whose life changes when a new family moves into the neighborhood.
Meet Ove. The fifty-nine year old grumpy man who keeps himself busy caring about stuff in the neighborhood that no one else gives a damn about. He believes in living by routine and follows staunch principles. He is a man with a short fuse and the neighbors refer to him as the bitter old man next door.
To him people threw good behaviors to the dogs a long time ago. Nobody can even back up a trailer anymore! He minds his own business and doesn’t understand why everyone expects him to walk around with a stupid smile plastered all over his face.
But behind the tough exterior, is a man with one of the biggest hearts ever and a man who has had to work for everything he has all his life. The story takes a turn when an annoying couple with two annoying children move in next door and flattens his mail box. The dark comedy now revolves around ugly cats, whose very existence Ove can’t comprehend, unexpected friendships and a man who just wants to die in peace without everybody disturbing him with this and that.
This is surely one of the books that you just can’t put down for even a minute. It will keep you captivated all the way to the end.
